Raising Smiles is a non-profit organization that was founded in September of 2005 by Zeina AlKhalaf.

Our mission is to raise money to help bring wounded Iraqi children to the United States to receive medical treatment such as prosthetics, rehabilitation, and surgery. Since the founding of the organization, there have been multiple successful fundraising events: over 5 fundraisers over the course of the past 5 years that generated over $10,000 and helped directly in brining 5 Iraqi children to the United States to receive prosthetics.

Raising Smiles has been partnering up with several non-profits that get the visa’s done for the children in order to bring them to the U.S. All of Raising Smiles’ profits go 100% directly to the cost of transportation and living for all the children.
Currently, Zeina Alkhalaf is a junior at George Mason University and is studying Communication and Public Relations in order to help better and expand Raising Smiles.

... because these children cannot receive the proper medical attention needed in their home countries and need to be flown into the United States to receive adequate attention. Consequently, the costs associated with such procedures are very high and most often, these children and their families are unable to cover the fees associated with the travel.
